MACAO, Dec. 19.
Macao today shed its last emergency measure taken during the recent riot crisis by the cancelling of the stand-by order to the local Portuguese garrison.
Tb e order, issued by the Governor, Brigadier Nobre De Carvalho, in his capacity as military commandant, came as the panel of three Government-appointed lawyers completed their task of drafting a workiig paper for the implementation of the Chinese demands.
This paper is now being translated from Portuguese to Chinese. So far there has been no Chinese Left-wing reaction to the Portuguese move replacing the military commandant, Colonel Carlos De Mota Cerveira, and the police chief. Lieutenant-Colonel Octavio De Figuereido—two Portuguese officials for whom they demanded “severe punishment.”
