Fremont May Win On Soft Track

"The Press” Special Service j PALMERSTON NTH. For the second time in a week torrential rain has caused a complete revision of form for a race meeting in the central North Island districts. The track at Otaki was awash yesterday afternoon and, unless there is an almost immediate clearance followed by a brisk wind, the going will be soft for the Otaki Maori Racing Club’s summer meeting today. These conditions have brought Fremont into favour for she has excelled under similar circumstances. Fremont, a winner at each of his two most recent starts, could be the hardest to beat in the Home McMillan Memorial first leg of the T.A.B. double. Sparkling Maid which has i shown her best form on rainI affected tracks, could be FreImont’s strongest rival. | Kintyre, on soft footing would be the second choice. ■ He is adept under such condiitions.
