Beautifying Assn. Party

About 70 members of the Christchurch Beautifying Association attended the association’s annual Christmas party in the Horticultural Hall. The members were welcomed by the president (Mr E. W. Rodgers). Mr J. Mason opened a programme of musical entertainment with a selection from Vaughan Williams, and “What a Wonderful World it Would Be.” “Thanks be to God” and a Scottish love song, were presented by Mr D. N. Bishop. Sixteen members of the singing circle of the Christchurch North Townswomen’s Guild presented songs from the musical “The White Horse Inn.” Mrs M. Mason (piano), Mrs J. Bull (violin) and Mrs M. Chapman (cello) gave a selection of items. The Christmas cake was cut by one of the earliest members of the association, Mr S. R. Dacre. Prizes for the best rose were presented to: Mrs G. K. Hosking 1, Mrs C. Manhire 2, anti Mr T. Wright 3. Christmar decoration: Mrs C. Manhire. Most unusual flower: Mrs L. W. Lee. The judges were Messrs J. Watling’and S. Gower.
