Moore, Cole In Speedway Clash

The former world champion speedway rider, R. Moore, of Christchurch, will make his first appearance of the season at the Templeton Stadium tomorrow evening.

He will be matched against the visiting English rider, H. Cole, in three special scratch races. Moore will be on the machine which Cole rode with success earlier this season. Cole now has his own machine. Both are JAP. motorcycles. Leading Christchurch riders

would be given the opportunity to make up the fields in each of the three four-lap scratch races, the president of the Christchurch Speedway Association (Mr R. Lang) said yesterday. One of these will be the former New Zealand champion, M. Burt, who has recovered from the injury he suffered less than two weeks ago in a crash at the speedway. The others will be the South Island champion, A. Brown, T. Black, T. Mauger, W. Moulin and R. Wright Moore has not had a practise ride since last season and will probably take most of the meeting to settle down. However, the great store of knowledge and skill which brought him two world championships and gave him run-ner-up honours on several other occasions, should carry him through.
