Two carriages of an elevated train whipped off rain-slicked tracks and crashed 25ft to the ground at the height of the morning rush hour on Chicago’s South Side today. One man was killed and at least 25 person were injured. Passengers screamed and tumbled down the aisles as the green and white metal cars bounded crazily along the wooden trestles above the road and then toppled through the rain amid a shower of sparks.
