EEC ENTRY U.K. To Consult Australia

(N.Z. Press Associotion—Copyrioht) LONDON, December 8. Australia will be invited to send a highranking Minister to London next year to discuss the effects of Britain’s plan to enter the European Common Market.

The British Government is considering sending a Minister on a round of Commonwealth capitals to keep the member Governments informed of steps towards the European community after the Prime Minister, Mr Wilson, and his colleagues have completed talks with the Big Six Governments in Rome, Paris, Bonn, Brussels, The Hague and Luxemburg. But Britain is unwilling to open her Common Market ambitions again to detailed round-table discussion at a Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ meeting. Britain, however, recognises that she has obligations to protect, as far as possible, the economies of her Commonwealth partners, particularly New Zealand and, to a lesser degree, Australia, India and Pakistan. The British Government would like each Commonwealth partner to iron out its

problems individually with Britain and the Common Market members, to minimise the difficulties of European acceptance of the British entry.
