Rail-car On Fire

(N.Z. Press Association)

DANNEVIRKE, Nov. 30.

Sixty-seven passengers on the Gisborne-bound rail-car were transferred from Dannevirke to Napier by bus just before noon today after the unit on which they were travelling caught fire. The fire started when oil leaked on a hot exhaust pipe, was too far forward of the motor to set off the automatic alarm. It was not noticed until the rail-car pulled into Dannevirke. Dannevirke voluntary firemen dealt with it.
