SPECIAL VOTES
Most Wrongly Directed People who were casting their votes before polling day should send them to the returning officers of the electorate to which they belong, the Chief Returning Officer for Christchurch (Mr J. W. L. Gerken) said yesterday. Already, several hundred votes from New Zealanders abroad or at home had been sent in, mostly' to the wrong place.
The Registrar of Electors (Mr F. G. Elsmore) said that the votes had been sent to his office whereas they should have gone to returning officers of the electorates concerned. It is sufficient to address mail containing votes to the Returning Officer, Avon electorate (or whatever the case may be), Christchurch. People in Christchurch who have already voted are those now in hospital and likely to be there on polling day.
For the nine electorates wholly or partly within the Christchurch area, 342 polling beoths will be in use.
