“It is surely wrong in principle to vote for another party, also supporting sanctions, just because it has little or no prospect of winning the election,” said a statement from the Canterbury division of the Aid Rhodesia Movement yesterday. “On the other hand, to obstain from voting, or to write Rhodesia across the ballot paper, is a most effective way of demonstrating one’s utter disgust at a policy inflicted by the present Government on New Zealand, which is against the will of a very large proportion of the people,” the statement said.
