COMPANIES’ STANDARDS
Improvement Needed
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)
MELBOURNE, Nov. 18.
The standards of many public companies obviously needed a great deal of improvement, the Victorian AttorneyGeneral (Mr Arthur Rylah) said today. Mr Rylah was commenting on the final report into the Reid Murray group. The report, by Mr B. J. Shaw, tabled in the State Parliament on Thursday, said Reid Murray’s best executives “were second class and the others were worse.” Mr Rylah said the real root of the problem of company failures lay in the standards which would be observed in future by directors, accountants, senior company executives and auditors.
