18 RUSSIAN TOURISTS

Christchurch Visit Soon

Diversity of occupation is the main characteristic of the 18 Russian tourists who will arrive in Christchurch on November 21 during a short visit to New Zealand. The Russians will arrive at Auckland on November 14 and will visit Rotorua, Wellington and Christchurch before leaving for Australia. The party includes two physiologists, a composer, a philosopher, two geographers, tw > economists, a mathematician, an editor, a biologist, a theatre director, two writers, two women physicians and a music teacher. There are six women in the party. The travel agent arranging their tour has been asked to supply an interpreter, and the modem languages department at the University of Canterbury has been asked to provide one. While in Christchurch, the group will be entertained by the New Zealand-U.S.S.R. Society.
