SERVICES PAY

Govt. Approves Increases (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. Adjustments in pay for members of the armed services—including the February, 1966, ruling-rates survey for State servants and the special margins increases approved from April 1 this year for senior State servants —were announced today by the Minister of Defence, (Mr Eyre). The maximum annual increases range from £25 for a private, one star, to £69 for a sergeant, three star. A captain will receive an £BO annual increase and a major £76.

“Arrears of pay will be assessed and paid as soon as possible,” said Mr Eyre. “Steps are being taken to ensure all eligible personnel receive a payment before Christmas.”

He explained that since this was the first adjustment of the 1965 services pay code, it had taken longer to incorporate the new rates than was expected with future adjustments.
