Contrast In Techniques
(N.Z. Press Association)
HASTINGS, Nov. 6. The Hastings electorate provides a contrast in campaign techniques. The Labour candidate. Mrs Sonja Davies, has turned her back on formal suburban meetings in halls and is addressing industrial, private
and evening street comer meetings. Mrs Davies opened her campaign with a meeting in a school hall attended by 32 people. The next night she began her street comer meetings and drew audiences of about 150 on two sites.
National Party organisers have provided their candidate, Mr D. Maclntyre, with
a caravan so that he can visit suburban areas and let electors “call” on him. The caravan will visit suburbs and areas without halls for an hour each morning and afternoon so that housewives and others can meet Mr Maclntyre informally and ask questions or discuss problems. Mr Maclntyre is also holding meetings at night i
