ZAMBIAN COPPER
Production Steady (N.Z.P-A .-Reuter—Copyright) LUSAKA, Nov. 1. Zambia’s seven copper mines are expected to maintain production of refined copper at 75 per cent of normal output this month. Production of refined metal was cut back by 25 per cent to about 45,000 tons last month after a shortage of coal imports from Rhodesia needed in the smelting process.
Coal imports were affected by a requirement on the railway, jointly-owned by Zambia and Rhodesia, that each waggon crossing the Zambia-Rho-desia border should be replaced by one going the other way.
