Trentham Candidates Gallop Keenly
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. Several Watkins Handicap candidates worked keenly at Trentham yesterday. Notable among them were Mr Fagan. Roganne. Lucky Rebel and Summer Magic, of the sprinters Rohe Potae. Kintyre, and L'rupukapuka did well.
The track is surprisingly firm after Wednesday's rain. Work again took place 100 feet out on the course proper. Mr Fagan (Miss Lee) and Red Crest (Edge) ran a solid mile in Imin 47sec. They took 53 sec for the last half-mile and 391 sec for the last three furlongs. Mr Fagan made a better impression than Red Crest, but both horses were working within themselves. They finished together. Roganne (Edge) started at an easy pace near the mile and was joined by Dee Dee (Miss Lee) near the six furlongs. They took lipin 8 l-ssec for the last five furlongs and 38 2-ssec for the last three, finishing on terms.
Both enhanced their prospect? for Saturday. Dee Dee should make a good race with Star BeXe In the Desert Gold Stakes.
Star Belle (Anderson) blew after running a mile In imln 47 3-ssec with her stablemate Fair Account (Donoghue) but the work out probably brought her back to peak. She ran the last five furlongs In Imln 8 3-ssec. Lucky Bebel (Anderson) work-
ed over a mile with Game (Donoghue) and Naneda (Grantham). They returned Imin 48 2-ssec, running the last three furlongs in 41 2-ssec.
Lucky Rebel looks weM and if he has a better run in the Watkins Handicap than he had last week he could be much harder to beat.
Summer Magic worked alone. Ridden by E. G.. Lowry, he cantered a lap, and then accelerated as he entered the back straight again. He ran the last seven furlongs in Imin 37sec. five in Imin 9 4-ssec, and three in 40 2-ssec. FIT SPRINTERS
Rohe Potae (Miss Carson) sprinted five furlongs in Imin 5 4-ssec, the last four in 51 4-ssec and three in 37 4-ssec. He looks ready for the Awatea Handicap.

Bridge Port (Miss Couster) sprinted half a mile in 49 2-ssec on the No. 1 grass, the last three furlongs in 36|sec. She could be a light-weight chance in the Rumutaka Handicap. Ginza (Edge) beat Crafty Queen (Miss Lee) by a length over half a mile in 51 3-ssec, the last three furlongs m 38sec. Ginza’s stablemate, Sonya's Pride (Anderson) finished half a length behind Urupukapuka (Edge) after half a mile in
