A clear-cut winner of the I Winton Cup at his last start, I Bellbridge will be a better, horse for his Gore engage-1 ment. The second leg, the Flying i Handicap, should see Belltana!
repeat his last-start winning run. There has been rain during the week, but the track should be hard and fast. An on-course double will be on the Wendon Hack Hurdles and the Spring Senior Hack Handicap, for which Crossway and Sailor’s Flight may be the respective favourites. Flyway will not start in the Members’ Handicap and there is doubt about Lorastan taking his place in the field. Cassarook will be the one : most likely to test Bellbridge. He won the Invercargill Gold j Cup last season and has prov- ' ed himself in strong handicap company. He has had the benI efit of two recent spring races and he finished a respectable I fifth on each occasion.
