S.I. GO-KART TITLES

Grass Track Racing The 100 c.c. and 200 c.c. South Island grass karting championships will be held at the Excelsior Kart Club’s circuit at Stewart's Gully next Sunday. This is the first year that the New Zealand Go-kart Federation has instituted a special series of trophies for grass karting. The 250 c.c. class was raced at Timaru recently with great success, and the open class, raced at Stewart’s Gully, attracted maximum fields. The racing on Sunday will be under the rolling start system. Each heat will comprise eight laps, and each competitor will get about six starts. Drivers entered in the 100 c.c. class so far are: R. Wilkinson (Christchurch), K. Drake (Christchurch), A. Long (Christchurch), C. McCobb (Christchurch), D. Drake (Christchurch) and R. Greig (Nelson). 200 c.c. class entries are: D. Stead (Belfast), D. Vamham (Christchurch), L. Stead (Belfast), H. Hopkins (Ashburton), L. Martin (Otematata), R. Logan (Ashburton), P. Rudolph (Nelson), J. Satherley (Nelson), R. Clifford (Ashburton), D. Martin (Christchurch) and A. Godfrey (Christchurch). Several late entries are expected.
