Bid To Revive Sumner Club

A second attempt will be made this evening to revive the Sumner Athletic Club, which went into recess in 1957. A public meeting of local residents and potential athletes will be addressed by the president of the New Brighton club (Mr H. O. Savage) in the Sumner Community Centre. It was hoped to have enough interested persons present to form a committee and get the club established, Mr I. K. Kozanic, president of the first Sumner club and the key figure behind the revival, said last evening. When the first meeting was held about a month ago only nine persons had been present, but he had since talked to a number of residents and those connected with the old club and was convinced that the interest was there. If the club is revived it will not start completely from scratch. There is £9 in the bank which belonged to the old club and also some equipment.
