Parachutist Badly Injured In Jump

(Aew Zealand Press Association! WELLINGTON, September 7. An Air Force parachute-jumping instructor was seriously in jured when his parachute failed to open fully during a jump at Whenuapai today.

He is Flight Sergeant K. A Gerraon, of Hobsonville. Mid dlemore Hospital tonight re ported him as dangerously ill He was the first of two men to jump from an Air Force DC3 in a routine training drop—from 600 ft. He received multiple frac tures and internal injuries. A court of inquiry has be gun investigations. Denis Musson, aged 19. of Henderson, who saw' the mis hap, said Sergeant Germon was spinning wildly as he came down.

“His parachute didn’t open properly. I didn’t see him try for his reserve parachute—although he must have known something was wrong straight away.”
