The reigning champion, Wellington, went down to Otago in a surprise result yesterday In the New Zealand women’s indoor basketball championships at Tauranga. Wellington, after beating Hutt Valley, could not hold out a strong recovery by Otago which came from 10 points behind to win 41-35. Results:—

A Grade. —Canterbury 51, Auckland 42; Wanganui 43. Rotorua 41; Canterbury 45, Nelson 35; Auckland 46, Wairarapa 28; Otago 41, Wellington 35; Hamilton 44, Hutt Valley 37; Wellington 49, Hutt Valley 43.

Reserve Grade.—Southland 55. Palmerston North 39: North Taranaki 44, Eastern Southland 20; Tauranga 40, Rotorua 35.
