CARTAGE RATES

21 Per Cent Increase

WELLINGTON, Aug. 30.

Maximum cartage rates or fixed cartage rates in all town cartage schedules have been increased by 2i per cent by the Commissioner of Transport (Mr R. J. Polaschek).

In schedules where maximum and minimum rates are prescribed the margin between shall remain as at present.

The application for an increase was lodged to recover the increase in costs as a result of the new driver’s award. The decision is effective immediately, but can be appealed against.
