Three Die In Road Accidents In South
Three persons died and eight were injured in road accidents in the Otago and Southland districts yesterday, the Press Association reports.
A Christchurch woman was killed when two cars collided at a crossroads on the GoreWinton highway, five miles from Gore. She was
MRS MARGARET COCHRANE LOCKERBIE, aged 63. wife of Mr W. L. Lockerbie, of 160 Richardson terrace, Opawa.
Mrs Lockerbie was an infant mistress at Opawa School.
The cars were driven by Michael John Watkins, aged . 24, of Robertson street. Gore, who was not injured, and by Mrs Joan O’Hara aged 27. Mrs O’Hara who is Mrs Lockerbie’s daughter, and two of her passengers. Mrsl
Barbara McLellan Kerr, aged .55, of 14 Elsie street Gore, and Miss Carol Fleet, aged 27, of 14 Matapan street, Panmure, Auckland, were admitted to Gore Hospital. When a van and a car collided 15 miles south of Dun-
edin last evening, two persons were killed and five injured.
Those killed were Ronald Ormandy, and his son John Ormandy, both of Allantan Stores.
Mr Ormandy's daughter, Patricia, aged about nine, was also in the van and was in a serious condition in the Dunedin Hospital late tonight.
The van was wrecked and traffic was heid up while the police worked to dear debris scattered over the road. Four people from the car were admitted to the Wakari Hospital and were in a satisfactory condition tonight. They are Robert Lindsay Duff, aged 44. Robert Alexander Duff, aged 11, Munro Joanne Duff, aged 13, all of Skibo street, Dunedin, and Ruth Harland, aged 13, of 196 Kaikorai Valley road, Dunedin.
