Labour’s Farm Policy
Sir, —“Come into my Parlour” seems to be concerned that the Labour Party policy for sharemilkers and farm workers is both realistic and effective. He complains that farm workers and sharemilkers would have to save for 20 years to have half the amount desirable for a deposit on a farm. He ignores, of course, other provisions in the Labour Party’s policy which would meet this condition. However, like most carping Tory critics, he becomes hysterical because he has led himself into believing that, with Labour’s policy, it might take 20 years to assemble half the amount of a deposit on present-day inflated farm values, but with typical one-eyed unconcern overlooks the fact that it would take 40 years to save a similar amount under present policies.—Yours, etc., ' S. August 18, 1966.
