INSPECTION BY P.M.

Civil Defence Headquarters (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake), the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) and several Cabinet Ministers yesterday inspected the civil defence headquarters in Broadcasting House. The administrative and communications arrangements made to cope with a national emergency were explained to them by the Director of Civil Defence (Brigadier R, C. Queree), Mr D. C. Pitts, a communications officer, and Mr J. W. Elliott, an engineer. Mr Holyoake inspected the office which would act as his command post and made telephone calls to the regional controllers of civil defence in Auckland and Christchurch.
