WOOLSTON BAND
Sponsorship Discussed It was an excellent thing for the business community to support sports and cultural organisations, Mr P. J. Skellerup told the annual meeting of the Skellerup-Woolston Brass Band. Mr Skellerup, who was elected patron, said that newspaper reports on his firm’s sponsorship of the band, tended to give the wrong impression. Skellerup Industries agreed with every point put by the special sub-committee which negotiated the sponsorship. “We are very pleased to sponsor the band,” he said. The chairman (Mr A. M. Clemens) said he hoped the generous action by Skellerup Industries would be of mutual benefit. He proposed that a concert be given to the directors, management and staff of the company. Officers elected were:— patrons, Mr P. J Skellerup, Mrs L J. Cropp; vice-patrons, Professor V. Griffiths and Mr T. Carroll; president, Mr C. S.
