APPLICATION REFUSED
New Brighton Rd. Bowser No evidence had been given to show the need for another petrol station or service garage in the locality, said the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board, in a decision refusing an application by Caltex Oil (New Zealand), LtcL, for consent to a specified departure to allow the establishment of a service station and garage on residential A land in New Brighton road. Petrol stations were not permitted uses under the City Council’s ordinances, the decision stated. Considerably stronger evidence would be i needed before the board could I allow a specified departure : for what would be, for practiI cal purposes, a further non- | conforming use in a residential zone.
