Military Museum
A museum containing historic military relics from as far back as the Maori Wars of the 1840 s has been established at Waiouru Military Camp. The museum has a parttime curator and has been collecting weapons and exhibits of historical interest. To complete the collection it still requires uniforms, headdress and accoutrements worn by New Zealand soldiers from 1900 to 1945, uniforms and articles of dress from Von Tempsky’s Forest Rangers, articles of dress worn by Boer troopers and German, Italian ind Japanese soldiers. The Quartermaster-General (Brigadier H. A. Purcell) said that many former soldiers had already given material to the museum, but many more fine exhibits and souvenirs might still be cluttering up homes throughout New Zealand. If anyone would like to make souvenirs available for permanent preservation and exhibition they should contact the Museum Committee, Waiouru Camp.
