ISOTOPE GAUGES

(NZPA-Reuter —Copyright? HONG KONG. China has recently produced several types of radio active isotope gauges for determining thickness of plates, strips and sheets in the metallurgical, chemical and light industries. One type has been put into production at the Shenyang beat engineering instruments and meters factory. The instruments mainly are designed to meet the requirements of China’s growing industrial production. Radio-active isotopes emit invisible rays which penetrate matter and are then partially absorbed. Their use in gauges gives a high degree of accuracy and sensitivity.
