Suharto Confirmed In Key Indonesian Post

(N.Z.P.A. Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, July 25. The Army strongman, Lieutenant-General Suharto, is expected to be named First Minister in the new Indonesian Cabinet to be announced tonight by President Sukarno.

The triumvirate now at the core of the six-man ruling presidium— General Suharto; the Foreign Minister, Mr Adam Malik; and the Economics Minister, Sultan Hamengku Buwono —all will retain office.

But two others—the Deputy Premier, Dr. Johannes Liemena, and the Minister for Political Institutions, Dr. Ruslan Abdulgani, who have been under strong criticism from the powerful Students’ Action Front as opportunists and Sukarno yes-men are expected to be dropped in the reshuffle.

The meeting also discussed foreign policy, including contacts now. continuing to end the confrontation of Malaysia. Economic problems and unrest in East and Central Java aggravated by Communist and pro-Communist agitators were among home affairs discussed.

President Sukarno at present also holds the title of Prime Minister and there was no explanation why the term has been dropped in the new Cabinet.
