FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression north-east of Auckland is moving away north-eastwards. An anti-cyclone over the South Tasman Sea is moving towards the South Island. Forecast: Marlborough Sounds.—Mainly fresh southeasterly winds; some further showers but increasing fair intervals. Outlook: partly cloudy. Central Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate southerly or easterly winds; partly cloudy and cold, with frosts. Outlook: partly cloudy. Kaikoura Coast.—Mainly fresh south-easterly winds; some further showers but increasing fair periods; some further snow on the ranges. Outlook: scattered showers. Canterbury.—Moderate south-westerlies predominating; partly cloudy with a few scattered showers; very cold with some severe frosts. Outlook: partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—South-easterlies, fresh in a few valleys, but mainly moderate; fine and cool with widespread frosts. Outlook; partly cloudy. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
