R. J. Skelton Forms Stud
"The Pre**” Special Service AUCKLAND. The imported stallion, Mellay, whose halfbrother, Charlottown, won this year’s Derby, may stand at the Auckland stud farm of the top jockey, R. J. Skelton, in two years.
• “Just a few broodmares at 5 first,” he said, “and we will . probably graze a few horses.” , Skelton added that his - brother-in-law, B. J. Ander--1 ton, had indicated he might - send Mellay north to stand at 1 the stud in two or three years. Skelton became interested ) in stud work when helping > at Anderton’s stud, White Robe Lodge, at Wingatui.
Skelton and his wife have’ registered the Gladstone Park Stud, Ltd. in Auckland. At the home of his brother, W. D. Skelton, in Levin, yesterday, Skelton said the stud would be at Manurewa towards Weymouth, a small beach resort. Skelton does not intend to begin stud work on a large scale.
