M.E.D. Need Greater
The capital requirements of the Municipal Electricity Department in the current financial year were estimated at £1,041,190 in a report to the City Council last evening, when the chairman of the electricity committee (Cr. W. E. Olds) said they were considerably higher than last year, largely because of the late delivery of stores. The council agreed that a loan not exceeding £475,000 should be raised, and that the rest should be provided from the department’s own resources.
