30 Have Been Offered A project to send obsolete single-furrow ploughs t 0 Asian countries has met with “terrific” response, according to the Canterbury Public Relations Officer (Mr C. X Todd). Thirty ploughs have been offered. Mr Todd said that the single-furrow ploughs, which are not used in New Zealand now. could be of immense help to under-privileged countries. For example, one plough could be used by about 50 farmers In India. Shipping arrangements will be made through C.0.R.5.0 and the donors will be told the destination of the ploughs. Mr Todd said that the idea arose from the planning of the world ploughing championships. to he held In Canterbury next May.
