FIRST AID AWARDS

Chathams Course Seven people in the Chatham Islands had recently been awarded the St John Ambulance Association’s first-aid certificate, said the secretary of the association (Mr G. A. Brown) yesterday. “This is the first time that the flag of St John has been waved in the Chatham Islands,” said Mr Brown, “and we feel that it is really quite an accomplishment” He said that the lectures and instruction classes had been organised by the Rev. J. Clark, who was a member of the Christchurch subcentre of the association. Father Clark had been assisted by Dr. J. Ives, superintendent of the Chatham Islands Hospital, and Mrs J. Ives, who was a registered nurse.
