The world champion racing driver, Jim Clark, suffered eye injuries when a bird flew into his face as he was driving at high speed in practice for Sunday’s French Grand Prix. An eye specialist ordered Clark to stay in his darkened hotel room for 48 hours. On Saturday a decision will be made whether he
can drive his Lotus-Cli-max in the event A partridge crashed into the tiny windscreen of the racing car and then into Clark’s face as he was accelerating at more than 100 miles an hour in the pit straight Clark managed to keep the car under control and brought it into the pits. He was taken to hospital where a specialist said the eyeball had been bruised.
