POULTRY SHOW AT WAIMATE
Six NX Tides Awarded (From Our Own Reporter.) WAIMATE, June 26. Six New Zealand championships and six South Island championships were awarded at the Waimate Poultry Society’s annual show, which concluded on Saturday night. The show attracted little short of 1000 entries, and the general standard of the birds was praised by the judges. At the official opening, the Mayor (Mr A. J. Mcßae) congratulated the society’s committee, under its president (Mr D. R. Brown, and secretary (Mr P. J. Creba) upon the excellent exhibition, which he said was a credit to Waimate. Major awards were: N.Z. Championships New Zealand championships were awarded as follows: Female bantam, Old English Game: B. and S. Notman (Oamaru). Female homer pigeon, under 199 miles: T. G. Curry (Oamaru). Female homer, any other colour, young bird: L G. McKenzie (Oamaru). Female Norwich canary, yellow, unflighted class: D. I. Johns (Waimate). Male Norwich canary, buff, flighted class, C.T.V.: D. I. Johns (Waimate). Female budgerigar, opaline green series: M. W. Duncan (Tiznaru). S.l. Championships Male Pekin bantam, buff or cinnamon: D. and M. Cunningham (Oamaru). Male Wynandotte bantam, self colour: B. E. Graham and Sons (Amberley). Male Homer pigeon, most likely flyer: Hillview Farm (Oamaru). Budgerigar, sky blue: M. W. Duncan (Timaru). Budgerigar, yellow wing, any . suffusion: B. J. Ackroyd (Ashburton). Budgerigar, opaline blue series: M. W. Duncan (Timaru). Society's Blue Ribbons The Waimate Poultry Society’s blue ribbons, awarded to the best bird in the section, were won by: Standard poultry classes': F. S. Creba (Waimate). Utility poultry: E. W.
