Insect Study Sought

It was believed that insects could have a greater impact on the high country, and in the prevention of its re-vege-tation, than had been realised, Mr D. McLeod, chairman of the management committee of the Tussock Grasslands and Mountain Lands Institute, told the annual conference of South Island high country sub-sections of Federated Farmers in Timaru. He said that applications had already been called for the appointment of an entomologist to the institute’s staff. It was not known whether this would lead to any sort of a break-through in the high country, but it was a field that was at present completely untouched.
