£58,470 On Cost Cash takings In Christchurch’s parking meters last year were £58,470; and in the current year income has been estimated at £59,000. Expenses in the last financial year were £8159. This year they are estimated at £12,875, with the major increase being £5OOO for patrolling, instead of £lOOO. Accounts presented to the City Council last evening showed the following receipts, with this year’s estimate in parentheses, for parking stations and open spaces: —Tuam street, £18,698 (£18,860); Latimer square, £31,523, including £30,606 for the sale of the land; Lichfield street, £3495 (£11,400); Manchester street, £3530 (£11,000). Against total receipts of £180,608 and payments of £89,620 last year. The council estimated an income of £189,880 and payments of £68,531 this year.
Provision was made for £21,075 towards the cost of land purchase in Lichfield street and £25,000 for the installation of traffic control lights, on which £15,483 was spent last year.
