REVENUE BETTER

Toll revenue of the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel Authority last month was £15,409, an increase of £4672 on April of last year. For vehicles the tolls were £13,391, against £9629, and goods tolls rose from £llOB to £2OlB. Mr L. H. Wilson, the general manager, reported that 16,919 tons of goods went through the tunnel last month. Twelve months ago there was 4926 tons.

Up to May 24 the revenue was 19.6 per cent up on last year, the chairman (Mr R. A. Witbrock) said. Commercial vehicle tolls were 64.9 per cent up and other tolls showed a 13.6 per cent increase.
