Concern At Late Hours Of Stock Collection
Concern at the late hours at which transport companies on Banks Peninsula were asked to collect stock was expressed by a representative of the Banks Peninsula Transport Alliance, Mr T. Griffin, at the annual meeting of Banks Peninsula Federated Farmers. Mr Griffin said drivers were now subject to limited overtime.
After long discussion, the meeting decided that the problem was to some extent the responsibility of drafters. It decided that the farmers and the alliance should form a committee to meet the Agriculture Department to discuss the matter. The establishment of a bulk storage bin for superphosphate at Little River was suggested by Mr Habgood. It was decided that the alliance should try to find the cost of such a bin. Two complaints were received from Little River members about the spreading of shingle infested with noxious weed seeds. The shingle came from a new pit recently opened by the Wairewa County Council. It was decided to complain to the Banks Peninsula Noxious Weeds Committee.
