BAN BY B.B.C.

“Pirate” Radio Man Present (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, May 17. A 8.8. C. official cannot attend a conference this week because he would have had to sit alongside a man from a “pirate” radio ship. The corporation will not allow it and they have banned Mr Leslie Turner, head of their engineering information department, from speaking to the Radio and Television Retailers’ Association. The association said that the 8.8. C. had offered to send Mr Turner when they heard that the conference would discuss local radio. When it heard that the head of Radio London would also attend, the corporation decided not to send its delegate.
