INTER-CLUB BILLIARDS
Choate’s Win Surprises
V. Choate (cored the upset victory in the fourth round matches in the inter-club billiards competition. His fine win over the Canterbury champion, E. Simons, was performed with all the skill and experience of a player in form. This was the third loss by Simons in four matches, an indication that a great deal of improvement must be produced if he is to retain his title.
N. Thomas (New Brighton) was also responsible for causing an upset when he deservedly beat the talented D. Hallum since winning the Canterbury junior championship two years ago, Thomas has promised performances of this standard, and a win over a player such as Hallum could well force him to greater endeavour. The best breaks of the even,nf» P l *? were T - Yesberg <is, 48) and K. Murphy (50. 48). Results:— * R.S.A. 2 O'Callaghan 2*6, Collie 200. Brough 158). Hornby 1 (Barnet 131, Munro 161. Higgs 200).
