Increase In Tonsilitis

Doctors taking part in the College of General Practitioners’ survey of illnesses found a notable increase in the number of acute tonsilitis cases in the four weeks to April 17. There were 362 cases, compared with 312 in the previous four weeks. Between 22 and 28 doctors made returns.

They recorded 431 cases of viral infection, 243 of staphylococcal infection, and 268 of gastro enteritis. There were also 38 cases of chieMnpex, 14 of mumps, 18 of measles, 50 of rubella, and 127 of otitis media (inflammation of the inner ear).
