Homeservices Assn, Grows
The membership of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Homeservice-
mens’ Association is increasing mainly because of the quarterly publication of the association’s magazine, “Reveille.” This was reflected by the president, Mr E. V. Green, at the annual meeting on Thursday evening. Mr Green said many former members had now rejoined the association and many others had been recommended to do so by present members. This had affected a transition which made the outlook for the future appear much brighter. ‘‘lt is the first time in my 10 years as treasurer that the membership has increased,” said the treasurer (Mr H. N. Whittaker). “The financial position is looking much healthier than it has done for a number of years.”
The balance sheet showed an excess of income over expenditure of £37 16s. The welfare officer (Brigadier F. M. Hay) reported that ail applications for relief had been taken proper care of. Twenty had been received.
Officers elected were: president, Mr E. V. Green; vicepresidents, Messrs D. A. Macgregor, E. Foote, J. Hunt; secretary, Mrs I. R. Johnson; treasurer, Mr H. N. Whittaker; committee, Messrs C.
