WEIR, Registrar. 3596 MONASH UNIVERSITY CHAIR OF EDUCATION APPLICATIONS are Invited for a further Chair of Education. The Faculty of Education, which opened as a Department in 1964, is now offering courses leading to the award of the Diploma in Education and the degree of Bachelor of Education for post-graduate students; it has admitted its first candidates for Masters’ degrees this year, and expects to enrol some Ph.D. students in 1967. There are already over 300 students in all, and numbers are likely to increase steadily. The Foundation Professor R. Selby Smith, has been appointed Dean of the Faculty so that he may take responsibility for most of its administrative work. Professor S. S. Dunn, formerly Assistant Director of the Australian Council for Educational Research, who is especially interested in measurement and evaluation studies, has already taken up duty: it is intended that other Professors shall be recruited progressively to act as leaders of research and teaching in their own fields. It is hoped that the Professor to be appointed can take up duty by February 1, 1967. The Chair could be in any of the main areas of educational study. Salary:£As2oo per annum.
