Surrender Of Arms Urged

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 25. The Minister of Police, Mr Allen, said he “strongly urged” persons still holding unlawful weapons to surrender them before the arms amnesty closed on April 29. He said he was pleased with results of the amnesty to date, but felt there could still be many people who had not ♦aken advantage of the amnesty to quit unlawful weapons or have the possession of other weapons regularised. Mr Allen said that since the amnesty began, 1355 firearms had been handed in—including 175 pistols.
