Bankruptcy Of Director

A creditors’ meeting was told last week that additional proofs of debt, amounting to about £3500, would be filed against Edward Samuel Stewart, formerly a director of Stewart Industries, Ltd., by the company’s receiver (Mr D. Lawrence). Proofs already filed amounted to £16,931 2s 6d. The Official Assignee (Mr T. A. F. Withers) said that Stewart’s home, at 10A Grange street, would produce £2500 for his creditors. The creditors passed a resolution that they accept the sum of £2500 and that a deepfreeze, television set, radiogram, motor-mower and refrigerator be handed to the Official Assignee to sell for the benefit of unsecured creditors. Stewart told an earlier meeting of creditors that the failure of Stewart Industries and the calling up of loans, guaranteed by him personally, resulted in his present financial position. Mr Withers adjourned the meeting for three weeks to confirm the resolution.
