MARK-UP ON BOOKS
Rooksellers Criticised <N Z. Press Association) ROTORUA April 21. Professor J. C. Reid, associate professor of English at Auckland University, told members of the Associated Booksellers in Rotorua last night that he was astounded at the huge mark-up in price of overseas books by Auckland booksellers. Professor Reid said some booksellers were charging up to 40 per cent on overseas prices.
He was surprised New Zealand booksellers were reverting to what he termed the “old, bad practice” of cutting the overseas prices off the dustjackets of imported books.
