U.S. NEGRO HONOURED
Posthumous Award (N.Z Press Assn—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 21. President Johnson said yesterday that he would award the Congressional Medal of Honour—America's highest combat award—posthumously to an 18-year-old Negro killed in action in Vietnam. Private Milton Olive will become the third United States serviceman to be-awarded the medal of honour for heroism in Vietnam. It will be only the eighth time a Negro has been awarded the medal in American history.
