OBITUARY MRS M. SHAW

Mrs Margaret Shaw, of Tinwald, who gave outstanding service to the Mid-Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes, died recently. During the last 17 years she served two terms on the executive, was secretary, voluntary organiser, and for 15 years editor of the federation’s journal. Mrs Shaw represented the federation on the C.W.I. and W.D.F.F. co-ordin-ating committees. Before her marriage Mrs Shaw lived at Highbank, where she was a foundation member of the C.W.I. and held office as president, secretary, and group convenor. As a demonstrator in home crafts she gave her time and talents willingly. Bowls was another of her interests, and she was president of the Alienton women’s section for a term and qualified as an umpire. She was also treasurer of the Ashburton Road Safety Council, a keen gardener, and a member of the Church of England. Mrs Shaw is survived by her husband, sister and three brothers.
